Artistic Rendering of Practice Session Crash At The Texas Motor Speedway

There is a new configuration in Turns 1 and 2 this year at The Texas Motor Speedway. The new may be end for some racers.

Mere minutes into the run, Denny Hamlin spun harmlessly in Turn 2. Then after 39 laps Elliott hit the wall at the newly configured Turn 2.

Elliott said, “Just got out of the groove there off Turn 2 and got too high and got the wall, Then had too much wheel in it going the other way, so just a mistake on my end. I hate it. I thought our car was pretty good, so hopefully this one will be just as good if not better.”

Erik Jones hit the wall hard, coming out of Turn 4. A rookie of the Monster Energy Cup Series, Jones posted the fourth fastest speed of 193.154 mph He will drive his backup car at the main event.

Kyle Busch clipped the outside wall with the right-rear of the No. 18 Toyota in newly configured Turn 1.He and his team elected against switching to a backup car and will repair the damage prior to qualifying.

Ryan Blaney topped the session with a lap of 194.182 mph.
