2017-11-22 Jean Todt will serve out his final term as FIA president until 2021.
Jean Todt is now guaranteed a third term as president of Formula 1’s governing body after the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile declared that no other candidate had officially emerged for the position.
The 71-year-old Frenchman took over from Max Mosley in 2009 and won a second four-year term in 2013. The deadline for other candidates to make themselves known was Nov. 17, which passed without formal interest.
The next step in the process is for the FIA General Assembly to ratify Todt’s next term when it meets in Paris on Dec. 8.
The term will also last four years and will be the final one for Todt: FIA regulations stipulate a maximum of three terms for president.
