Team owner Chip Ganassi has given Kyle Larson approval to race in Saturday night's 57th annual Nationals at Knoxville Raceway.
Following a huge social push with the hashtag: "LetKyleRace," Ganassi made the announcement on social media.
"I feel like Steve Lauletta (President, Chip Ganassi Racing) and John Olguin (Senior Vice President Marketing and Communications at Chip Ganassi Racing) at our race shop probably had the most impact probably on me being able to run, so, got to thank them, but ultimately, its all Chips decision," Larson said. "I know my fans really appreciate it. All my sprint car fans and NASCAR fans, so Chip is a hero today and this weekend. I appreciate it."
Larson, who won his qualifying night on Wednesday, will start ninth in Saturday night's A-Main driving the No. 57 for Paul Silva. David Gravel, who scored a perfect score in Thursday's qualifying night, along with nine-time Nationals winner Donny Schatz will start 1 and 2, respectively.
"To beat Donny and David Gravel from the front row that will be tough," Larson said. "I feel like if we get through traffic I could compete with them and try to get a win.”
Along with his victory this week, Larson also has one win this season in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series (Eagle Raceway) along with two during Ohio Sprint Speedweek with the Arctic Cat All-Star Circuit of Champions (Wayne County Speedway and Sharon Speedway).
“Ive never been this good in a sprint car in my career." Larson said Wednesday night at Knoxville.
After Saturdays practice sessions at Michigan International Speedway, Larson will fly to Knoxville with the help of Priority Aviation, which is a sponsor on his sprint car.
On Sunday, Larson will be going for his third straight Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series win at MIS.
"We have been off a little bit the last couple of weeks, but excited to be back here at Michigan where we do have success and can hopefully run well and get that momentum back," Larson said.
"Cool weekend for me and really excited for it.”
