Lucas Di Grassi Formula E Racer Wins in Mexico
Lucas Di Grassi in his Formula E Race Car
Lucas Di Grassi wins the Mexican ePrix today 04/01/2017 in a race filled with accidents while title rival Sebastian Buemi finished outside of the points. Di Grassi drove his car from last to first.

Qualifying was disastrous endeavor he started from P15 and things didn’t improve when the race got underway as Maro Engel ran into the rear of his Abt Audi. When his chances of a win looked slim to none, Di Grassi quickly pitted to fix the damage to the rear of his car, exiting the pits in last place.

In a bold move on lap 18, the team pitted Di Grassi, knowing that he would take the lead once others pitted but that saving energy would be critical. With a third less energy in his battery, the Brazilian driver masterfully managed his power and, with the aid of Jerome D’Ambrosio who had tried a similar tactic, Di Grassi crossed the line two seconds ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne.

Di Grassi said “To be honest, I don’t know,” when asked how he pulled off such a comeback. “You can say luck, you can say God. After what happened last year, we had a good bit of luck. The mechanics did a fantastic job. We managed to do an incredible energy-wise race to bring the car home.
