Mike Conway And Toyota Gazoo Racing Set Fastest Time World Endurance Championship Testing 2017-04-01
Toyota Gazoo Racing and Mike Conway set the fastest time in the World Endurance Championship Testing as a victory of sorts over Porsche. When he beat the time set earlier in the day by Porsche’s Neel Jani.

The Japanese manufacturer came out of the first of two days of official testing at The ‘Prologue’, the official pre-season event for the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship, Saturday with the fastest time. However, the events at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Italy this weekend will give few clues to what might happen when the World Endurance Championship season begins in Britain on April 16.

The two remaining LMP1 manufacturers following Audi’s withdrawal chose to unveil their latest contenders in low-downforce specification designed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and then run them in that configuration this weekend.

Toyota, at least, will be at Silverstone with the 2017 version of its TS050 HYBRID in a high-downforce configuration suitable for the quick corners that proliferate the home of the British Grand Prix. Porsche, on the other hand, has decided to keep everyone guessing and isn’t revealing which of the two aerodynamic configurations allowed this season it will race at the championship opener.
