2017-11-10 Ryan Blaney won the pole for Sunday's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Can-Am 500 at Phoenix Raceway.
Blaney lapped the one mile track at Phoenix Raceway in 26.098 seconds at 137.942 mph edging out Denny Hamlin’s lap of 137.936 mph.
“We got better each round, which is all you can ask for, really,” said Blaney, I thought the last round was our best. We ran our fastest time, and it was enough. That says something strong about this team. I think we started second here in the spring, and to back that up and better it at a big weekend like this, where we have to perform well, that’s definitely encouraging, and it gets our weekend started off on a good foot. Hopefully, we can keep this momentum up and keep it going and see what we have for them on Sunday.”
Kyle Larson starts 3rd with his fastest lap of 26.101 seconds, Chase Elliott 4th with his fastest lap of 26.155 seconds, Martin Truex Jr. 5th with a lap of 26.166 seconds, Kevin Harvick 6th at 26.230 seconds, Matt Kenseth 26.241 seconds, Kyle Busch 7th at 26.263 seconds, Logano 9th at 26.333 seconds, Daniel Suarez 10th at 26.380 seconds, Erik Jones 11th at 26.398 seconds and Jimmie Johnson was 12th with a fastest lap of 26.427 seconds.
