Sheldon Haudenschild running in The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions started on the pole and held the lead for the full 30 laps to take home the checkeres at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala Florida. This is Haudenschild first win in Florida, his first win with Stenhouse Jr. / Marshall Racing and his 17 win overall.
Haudenschild navigated 2 cautions and heavy lapped traffic while at the front of the pack. With half the race complete Haudenschild was a full 3 seconds ahead of second Despite heavy traffic. The first caution came at lap 17 and by that time Haudenschild was more the 5 second ahead.
The second and final caution was on lap 22, erasing Haudenschild’s 2 second lead for the. The remaining 9 laps were no problem for Haudenschild, taking the checkers with a almost two second lead over Kerry Madsen and Chad Kemenah.
“It might have looked easy but it wasn’t,” Haudenschild said. “It was hard to get through the lapped cars and I had to bang a couple of them out of the way. I just kept getting through them the best I could.”
“I knew Kerry Madsen and Tim Shaffer were going to be fast because they’ve been fast all week,” Haudenschild also said. “To beat guys like that feels really good. I wanted to be fast this week and I knew we would be. This team has really good equipment and it is filled with great crew guys. We were able to put it all together.”
